What went well in my web 2.0 training? 8 Minutes Each
Clare
Tried training the administrators of Stanbic bank on web 2.0 tools but received a negative response because of the staff’s unwillingness to change from the conventional way of operations like face to face meetings and VOIP. However, I plan to make another trip after careful consultations with management.

Trained people on using yahoo messenger, chat and conferences. It was easy to train people to chat one by one but getting them in a conference is difficult The challenges on this were; Voice training, getting people know when they should speak but soon they got used to this.
Lillian
Trained people on using blogs and wikis She did an online training in wiki’s as part of the a Harambee project Online trainings. All training materials were developed online
What went well
- Exercises were developed to make the training participatory. A good number of participants were active in all exercises
- Participants created wikis and shared URLs with others.
Challenges
- Participants dropped out of the training(9 out of 14 completed the training)
- Those who created wikis didn't add information to their wikis.
- Lack of sharing among participants in how they were using their wikis

The first one was for converter which converts Kilograms to Grams which is interesting and very easy to use in business. Most tools she visits have guidelines on how to use them.
George
Training district counselors and officials which he will write down and give to me.
Chris
He has attended and taught himself but he hasn’t tried officially training people on how to use web 2.0 tools. His experience is that learning to use them is pretty easy but the problem is how to apply what is learnt. In his experience, people don’t apply the skills learnt.
Kalist
He has experiences in using web 2.0 tools especially blogs. His challenge is still to teach the community around him on how to use these tools.
John
His experience was when he was teaching someone how to use skype on making PC to PC calls which excited his students because it is a free facility. He had to teach his student on how to get other users but the problem he realized he that he had to request people to communicate and sometimes people could respond which made him think that this was not working which was later solved because of connection problems. It was a successful training.
Johnston
He hasn’t officially started training people on using web 2.0 tools but he has trained people in his organization and partner organization such tools are skype, google chat, my space and yahoo messenger. However they are developing manuals for community development workers in ICT’s 4 D which will focus on web 2.0 tools. He believes this workshop has improved his skills plus the Kabissa workshop to enable him pass on these skills in future.
By the end of this workshop he believes he will have mastered using wiki’s and blogs which he will pass on to his audience.
Milton
He hasn’t yet trained.
Karel
Refugees in his city who he taught skype and taught him how to use in. Which they liked and learnt. What went wrong is that these people were automatically logged in as soon as the computers were logged on.
